Online discussion on ASEAN sustainable development goals (SDG) indicators

On 13-14 May 2020, ASEAN Statistics Division (ASEANstats) held an online discussion between ASEANstats and the ASEAN Working Group on Sustainable Development Goal Indicators (WGSDGI). Attended this event were ASEANstats, members of WGSDGI and ARISE Plus Team Members.

The meeting focused on discussing the results of quality assessment  of ASEAN Member States’ submitted data on SDG indicators, the outline of the publication “ASEAN Sustainable Development Goals Indicators Baseline Report 2020” – a product of the initiative “Formation of an ASEAN statistical information system on sustainable development” for the year that Vietnam takes over the ASEAN Chairmanship.

At the meeting, participants discussed the method, implementation and results of quality assessment of data; proposed criteria and recommendations of indicators to be included in publication; discussed the metadata submitted by ASEAN Member States (AMS); discussed the proposed contents for the publication, covering the outline of publication, how the data will be presented on the publication, metadata and notes. In addition, the meeting also discussed the timeline as well as the follow-up plans and actions required in the lead up to the release of this publication.

This is one of the basic activities in Vietnam’s ASEAN Chairmanship Year 2020 in Statistics with the overall theme “Cohesively enhancing capacity of ASEAN Community Statistical System to be more responsive to greater data needs”.
