In two half-days of 5-6 August 2020, the 20th Meeting of ACSS Sub-Committee on Planning and Coordination (SCPC20) chaired by the General Statistics Office of Vietnam (GSO) was virtually conducted with the participation of SCPC Members from Statistical Offices of ASEAN Member States (AMSs) and the ASEAN Statistics Division (ASEANstats). On the side of GSO, Mr. Nguyen Trung Tien, Deputy Director General of GSO attended and delivered an opeing remarks, together with representatives of relevant units under the GSO.

The Meeting’s objectives are to (1) discuss the important topics and to obtain SCPC decisions, guidance and feedback; (2) discuss on the status of ACSS Priority Activities that have timeline to be delivered in October during the 10th Session of the ASEAN Community Statistical System (ACSS) Committee; (3) discuss on the status of ACSS Priority Activities that have timeline to be delivered in October during ACSS10.
SCPC Members from AMSs attended the Meeting
At the Meeting, participants focused on the discussion and agreement on the following contents: (1) Updates on ASEAN SDG Indicators Baseline Report and online database portal based on WGDSGI Meeting; (2) Concept Notes on the Potential Use of Big Data for Further Enhancement of the ACSS Official Statistics; (3) Draft framework for the implementation of ASEAN-Help-ASEAN (AHA) initiatives to strengthen the ACSS capacity building; (4) The tentative agenda of ACSS10 in Vietnam; (5) The ACSS10 Joint Media Statement; (6) Preparation of Video-graphics for ACSS10; (7) Update on ACSS Strategic Plan 2021–2025 and Annual Work Plan 2021 (AWP 2021) and Indicative Work Plan 2022 based on the results of Mid-Term Review (MTR); (8) Implementation of AWP 2020 Monitoring and M&E of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) of the ACSS Strategic Plan; (9) Result of implementation of Code of Practice (Section B and C), Result of Open Data Self-Assessment, Submission of ASEAN Statistical Indicator data template, Progress and issues from ACSS Working Groups, including the revised Policy and Guidelines on data sharing and dissemination under WGDSA; (10) Other matters.

Speaking at the Meeting, Deputy Director General of GSO Mr. Nguyen Trung Tien expressed his belief that with the achieved results from the SCPC20 and the active support of AMSs, Vietnam as the host country would successfully organize the forthcoming 10th Session of the ACSS Committee.
